Divorce can be very complex and represents one of the biggest financial turning points some individuals will ever face. Emotions run high and once the divorce is finalized, some decisions are irrevocable.
Team leader Lana Hock has completed advanced financial planning studies through the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts to obtain the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) designation, and partner Amanda Logan is currently studying for the designation as well. CDFA professionals most often come from a financial planning, accounting, or legal background and pursue the designation to become skilled at analyzing and providing expertise on the financial issues of divorce. The CDFA can help clients determine the short-term and long-term financial impact of any proposed divorce settlement. They also provide valuable information on financial issues that are related to the divorce, such as tax consequences, dividing pension plans, continued health care coverage, stock option elections and much more. CDFA professionals also help attorneys by helping the client make financial sense of proposals. CDFA professionals give lawyers the tools they need to help prove their case.
"I've been through a divorce myself and appreciate the struggles and consequences faced, particularly for the party least informed on financial matters. I know from experience that working with a CDFA can change outcomes." -- Lana Hock -
"One of the main reasons I became an advisor is because my parents got divorced and it was pretty messy; I saw how it could have been much worse without some guidance, and it motivated me to try to make a difference for others experiencing the same." -- Amanda Logan --
